Animal Protection and Education (A.P.E.) launched a fund drive last week for a permanent location for its low-cost spay and neuter clinic.
A.P.E. was founded in 2003 as a 501(c) non-profit organization. It operates the only non-profit mobile trap-neuter-return (TNR) service in Iowa.
A.P.E.’s mission is to provide communities with humane animal control of free-roaming cats and to educate the public on the responsibilities of pet ownership. The mission is made possible by generous private funding from members of the community.
A.P.E. is now seeking donations for the purchase of a permanent clinic location. The new location will serve as a clinic and office, while the mobile clinic continues to serve rural areas.
A.P.E. also provides annual immunizations, exams and microchipping, as well as information about pet overpopulation issues, ways to prevent it, pet husbandry, and humane training.
